Christmas Story Time at the Library 2011

Invitations had been sent out to children under the age of 9 to come to Bibliothèque Saint-Joachim Library for a Christmas puppet show and craft evening on Thursday, December 8. It was full house at the library that evening as over seventy children had registered for the event and they brought their parents with them to share in the joy of Christmas. Mrs. Claus was on hand to read the story I’ve seen Santa by David Bedford, in french and in english, while Santa’s elves were there to bring to life the puppets. The children enjoyed watching Little Bear in his quest to see Santa Claus deliver his presents on Christmas Eve, but this task was not as easy as Little Bear had anticipated.

The children were given the opportunity of decorating their own Christmas stocking and they were very creative at this. Glue, beads, sparkles, and joy were all over and made for very original pieces of art which each got to take home.

Mrs. Claus had been sure to add our event to Santa Claus’ agenda, and the jolly old man came in with a big HO HO HO, as a reminder to our tinylibrary clients that they must continue to be good in the spirit of Christmas.

Effervescence was in the air, and judging by the smiles on the children’s faces, a jolly good time was had by all present.

Christmas Story Time at the Library 2010

Invitations had been sent out to children aged 9 years and under to attend the Christmas Story Time evening at Bibliothèque Saint-Joachim Library on December 14, 2010. Over fifty children were in attendance when Christmas stories were read by Santa’s elves, in both French and English. The children participated in the making of a small Christmas wreath ornament which each got to bring home. Just as all were getting ready for a small snack of juice and cookies, a surprise visitor came in with a big HO HO HO. The children were very excited to see Santa Claus himself who, through his elves, had heard of the gathering. He had come to meet the tiny clients of the library. The elves handed out small presents which Santa had brought, while Santa was on hand to hear from the boys and girls what they wanted him to bring them on Christmas Eve. In return, all those present joined in to sing “Petit Papa Noël” for Santa Clause, asking him not to forget to fill their stockings for Christmas. It was an evening full of effervescence and a jolly good time was had by all present.

Story Time

We offer story time at different times during the year. An invitation to these events is always sent out to the children of both schools, as well as to the different programs for children in the region.
